Clinic With a Heart

Today, was Clinic With a Heart (as opposed to one with no heart.)

Its a clinic our school does for the community once a year. We start cleanings at 7 AM and the whole school is working like mad men! Radiology always has people lined up out the door, oral surgery is stacked up and the dental students are filling, extracting, and anything else you can think of-- and we do it all for free.

People line up the day before like its black Friday. We advertise this clinic everywhere and always get a huge turn out. Its sad, we have to turn many people away because there's just not enough time in our day.

We were able to clean so many teeth today though! Such a good experience-- the patients are in and out of our chairs so fast! I love it! It was also super nice today, cause a dental assisting school came to help us out. I could definitely get used to having an assistant.

In our hygiene clinic, we are always secretly scouring for CBC (mock board) and board patients. This event alone, will hopefully bring in half of our class's CBC patients. We have screenings next week so hopefully we find some! Crossing my fingers :)

Yoga Shmoga

I've started something amazing this week-- YOGA

(I wish I was doing yoga on the beach like this girl!)

I've started going to a place in redlands, The Yoga Room (I got a week free coupon!) It is such a good workout! First day, I started out small and went to a beginner class with E-- it was a little on the easy side but it was a really good stretch. Then the second day, I went with KR and it was a power hot yoga (that means the room is warmer than WARM). And man, did I feel it that day! It was really pushing me.  And I tend to push myself. The class was like 1 hour and 45 minutes.. well in the last 15 minutes of the class I got a little... tired.

I stepped out into the lobby to get a breath of air (you seriously can't breath in that hot room) and I just thought, "I'll lean up against this wall, close my eyes, take deep breaths and take a little break." Next thing I know, I woke up on the ground. I had passed out and apparently seized. I think I had pushed myself just a little too far. The people in the lobby were looking like a freak. A worker there was very nice though-- she got me water and a bar. I could hardly control my fingers to open the package though. Thats when I realized I hadn't eaten since lunch.. that was 6 hours ago. And hadn't drank enough water to sweat. So my body just shut down for me. It was a scary experience! But of course, I went back the next day. Its that good! (just note to self: EAT and DRINK before going)

The weirdest thing came to mind when I was unconscious though-- I was about 5 years old. KK & I were playing outside in a blue bonnet field.. laughing and running. It was so playful and peaceful. I don't know why this is what I thought of but it was just so joyous. Made me miss my sister.

Christmas in January

Last night, we had a little mini Christmas at B's house :) (I'll have to share about my family's Christmas later, when I have more time!) His family and I made dinner and watched a movie and then sat around the tree and opened presents! (Oh how I wish it was the beginning of Christmas break again.)

I was so excited to see their faces when they opened their presents! I had so much fun shopping for Mama E & Sister K! The boys are always so much harder.. B had to help me with his dad's gift and I had a little something for B under the tree.. even though we had already done our Christmas. I was very pleased to see how much he liked his new dressy/casual button up shirt. :) He even went upstairs and put it together with some other new Christmas clothes he had gotten! That's how I knew he really liked it :)

As I was opening my presents, I thought I knew what they had gotten me cause we had shopped for all of it together but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't. I got the CUTEST bowls! They're big, all white cooking bowls with dots around the rim and roosters-- cute, classy roosters! I'll have to put up a picture! My mom got me the most adorable measuring cups and spoons from World Market with ribbing on the side-- and they match my bowls!

I am just so excited to be adding things to my collection for my one day apartment :) I frequently look at craigslist for thrifty freebies.. Don't judge-- one time I saw a brand new West Elm couch! Theres steals to be found :)
